The MAX8515AEXK+T is a wide input 0.6V shunt regulator for isolated DC to DC converters in 5 pin SC-70 package. This shunt regulator simplifies the design of voltage regulation and overvoltage protection functions in high accuracy isolated DC to DC converters with output voltages as low as 0.6V. The device has supply voltage and feedback inputs separated from output shunt stage and can operate directly from DC to DC converter output stage when output voltage is 1.8V to 18V. Alternately, the MAX8515A input stage can be biased from an unregulated 1.7V to 28V supply which is independent of DC to DC converter output voltage. It has an initial output accuracy of 0.5% at 25°C and 1% from -40°C to +85°C. Low cost, low dropout linear regulators can be designed with MAX8515A and an external NPN transistor for cost conscious applications that do not require overcurrent, short circuit or overtemperature protection.

- 0.2ohm dynamic output impedance
- Supply current of 0.5mA at IOUT = 0.3mA and 2.5mA at IOUT = 10mA
- FB threshold accuracy of 0.6V at TA = +25°C
- FB load regulation of 3.8mV at IOUT = 1mA to 20mA
- FB line regulation of 0.2mV at VIN = 2V to 28V and 1.5mV at VIN = 1.7V to 28V
- FB input bias current of 0.02µA
