Product Overview
MAX3490ESA+T is a 3.3V, low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication. It contains one driver and one receiver. It features slew-rate-limited drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, allowing error-free data transmission at data rates upto 250kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current-limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if both inputs are open circuits. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, telecommunications, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, and industrial-control local area networks.

- Common-mode input voltage range from -7V to +12V, allows upto 32 transceivers on the bus
- Supply current is 1.1mA typical at (no load, DI = 0V or VCC)
- Receiver input hysteresis is 50mV typical at (VCM = 0V, VCC = 3.3V ±0.3V)
- Supply current in shutdown mode is 1µA maximum at (TA = +25°C)
- Logic input current is ±2μA maximum at (VCC = 3.3V ±0.3V)
- Receiver input resistance is 12Kohm minimum at (-7V ≤ VCM ≤ 12V)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, 8-lead SO package
